Curiosity: Chough

chough

Here’s the first of hopefully a weekly series of SPOKE Certified Curiosity which features curious finds inspired by the Pictorial Webster’s – A Visual Dictionary of Curiosities by John M. Carrera, a new addition to our humble library.

Chough, pronounced (chŭf), is a crow-like bird with a strange name that I thought was pronounced as ‘cho’ as first glance. It’s tough to figure out which words ends with a silent “gh”, like “sigh” or “though”. Chough shoves tough stuff.
