Defendor Triumphs with a Heart of Gold

Sports isn’t for everyone. For those whose patriotic spirits have not surged from the Olympic games, try hitting the theatre for Defendor written and directed by Canadian filmmaker, Steven Stebbings. It was hard to believe this as his debut film as director. Every emotional trigger was given in perfect portions while in another’s hands, the movie could have gone straight to the cheese factory. Woody Harrelson, who plays the socially challenged crime fighter, manages to turn an easily clichéd character into one that you’ll love and cheer for. It takes the skills of somebody’s favorite actor to play a role like that – and of course, that somebody is me! Can’t forget to mention the Canadian actors who gave an equally stellar performance as Elias Koteas and Sandra Oh. I walked out the theatre feeling uplifted and proud – Defendor defeated Captain Industry and won a Gold for Canadian films.

One of my favorite shots from the movie – Defendor’s first spying mission on Captain Industry

Incredibles

Had to throw it in here. Just thought the Woody Harrelson looked a lot like Mr. Incredible.
